With his 1993 Bodoni Classic Ornaments, Munich designer Gert Wiescher pioneered a genre that recently has become phenomenally popular. It comes as no surprise that Wiescher has continued to produce ornament packages. His output is impressive, and his latest releases include his sixth collection of Fleurons as well as five sets of ornamented borders called Ornata. Wiescher’s most successful recent font is Floralissimo. Like most of his other ornamental fonts, it is based on vintage material from old catalogs. The flowery ornaments are an elegant addition to any design that is meant to exude romance, nostalgia... or subtle irony.
